Laura Jarrett

Laura is an amazing, phenomenal in fact, woman. We were married on October 5th, 2013 in a pretty excellent ceremony. She gave birth to our first child together, Oliver, on March 30th, 2014.

How We Met

Laura and I met, as it would happen, on Twitter. One dark and stormy night(ok, maybe not), I looked at my followers list and there she was. So I reciprocated, as I'm known to do. We used to talk quite a bit, a lot of back and forth. She quickly became one of my favorite people, even if we hadn't actually met.

After a whole lot of the back and forth, we finally agreed to meet and hang out, in April of 2011. We ended up meeting at Anodyne. We shared some drinks and a lot of laughs. It was about at this point where I thought I wanted her in my life for a long, long time. I didn't know it yet. We hung out a few more times(even saw the amazing Stevie Nicks!), but alas, it wasn't meant to last long. Neither of us were ready for the love of our lives at that point.

Finally!

We stopped talking for awhile. I think it was about 8 months. Well, in between there I had my heart broken a little bit, and Laura helped me through that. It's not something I bring up often, I don't even know if she remembers doing so, but the few conversations we had in that time were really uplifiting.

Anyhow, about 3 months after that, and after a cross country trip to see my cousin get married, I was back on Twitter. I posted a tweet about missing Laura. A day or so before I posted the tweet, I had had a dream about Laura where we were friends still and nothing had changed.

Fast-forward a few days, to June 12, 2012. I had ignored my phone that night, as I'm prone to do when I don't think anyone will contact me anyway. The next morning, out of habit, I check to see if I got any messages that night. Low and behold, Laura had texted me! I don't think I've ever gotten so nervous at one point in my life. After a few hours of thought, I finally texted her back. She told me that someone said I had written that tweet about her! And so, we were 'friends' again!

On a side rant, I just want to say it took too long for us to get together. She's perfect for me and sometimes you really just need a kick in the pants to realize these things. You can't always see what's right in front of your face.

And So It Began...

After a couple weeks of texting(yes I move slow), we decided it was time to hang out again. So I asked her to dinner at Nicki V's. Again, we talked and laughed and had a great time. I found I couldn't take my eyes off her at all that night. She was even more beautiful than I remembered. I think we hung out once or twice more and then we decided to go 'steady' as they say. Finally, I had Laura all to myself.

Marriage, and Beyond...

After dating for a few months, Laura and I took her son, Lorenzo out to the pumpkin patch and I got to meet and get to know the little man. I loved hanging out with them together so much, that after a few times we decided it was time to move in together. In March of 2013, we finally got a house.

In July, after finding that living together suited us quite well, we got engaged. It was nervewracking telling our families, but we wanted a quick turnaround. About a week later, we found out our biggest dream had come true, we were pregnant!

On October 5th, 2013, my dream finally came, and we were married in a beautiful ceremony in Albuquerque, NM. Our friends and family partied like never before. We danced, and laughed and had an amazing time.

March 30th, 2014 marked the birth of Oliver. Our family was complete(for now)!

What more could the future hold??
